The CONDOMIZE! CAMPAIGN Project Overview
CONDOMIZE! is a global innovative and effective approach to condom programming focusing on attraction rather than promotion to draw its audience. The CONDOMIZE! CAMPAIGN uses information that is grounded in evidence and attracts and captivates its audience using intense colour, creative performances and engaging in edutainment activities. Drawn to the CONDOMIZE! spectacular audiences become comfortable with condoms, participate in educational activities and promote the distribution of condoms with clear and accurate information about how to use them. They come for the entertainment and stay for the message, leaving educated, empowered and with the tools they need to protect themselves.
In Zimbabwe the CONDOMIZE! Campaign is a nationwide campaign that was given birth to in 2015 when Zimbabwe hosted the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA). The Campaign thus falls under the National Condom Programming in the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
The Campaign seeks to demystify the myths and misconceptions around condom use. Since its inception communities have been imparted with correct information on condoms. The Campaign therefore ensures that communities are equipped with correct information and empowered to scale up the correct and consistent use of condoms.
The CONDOMIZE! Campaign makes use of 5 pillars in its dissemination on information and these pillars are ENTERTAINMENT, EDUCATION, ART, KIDS SECTION and use of SOCIAL MEDIA.
